When you use an online backup feature of Norton 360, the transmission between your PC and the Symantec’s secure server is encrypted with 128-bit SSL encryption. Once on the server, the files are stored by using 256-bit AES encryption. In simple words, the files stored on the server are not readable by a human. No personal information is being associated with the encrypted data on the server as the system uses randomized IDs, and passwords (passkeys) are stored in locations separate from the data.
