Error: “8504,104” may appear for at least two reasons:
- Failed Norton install that has happened during the installation or an upgrade process to a newer version.
- Another antivirus or security product already being installed onto a computer.
To fix the problem caused by the failed Norton installation, use the Norton Removal Tool.
To fix the problem caused by another security program, uninstall any non-Norton/Symantec antivirus/security software that appears on the list under Installed Programs in your Control Panel.
Symantec also recommends checking if your graphic adapter driver needs an update.
